Rainford Supporting the Vulnerable.
On the eve of the lockdown local charity Our Warm Welcome (OWW) teamed up with St Helens Foodbank and Teardrops to help as many vulnerable people and families as possible during the lockdown. In the first week donations of toiletries were taken to Whiston Hospital for key workers and patients who could no longer have visitors. Since then and thanks to donations from all over the village including All Saints, URC, Local farmers, The Junction Pub and the local Co-op OWW has delivered Food essentials to The Foodbank, Teardrops, as well as asylum seekers and refugees across the borough. There has also been support given to families in Pennington Lodge (Women’s Refuge) and Victoria Care Home.
The work continues and new donations can be made each Tuesday between 12 and 2 pm at the Corpus Christi Church Garden. Any food donations are welcome but the key items are listed below:
TUNA, BASMATI RICE, PASTA, TINNED TOMATOES AND FRUIT, UHT MILK, COFFEE.
