Councillor James Holden

Junction Ward

Health & Safety Committee
I joined the parish council as I felt that I had attributes that could be useful to the local community, and wanted to be able to make a difference whenever I could. I have lived in Rainford for 20 years now, and feel that if I want things to be improved around the village, then I need to be in a position to be able to do something about it. I have previously held positions of school governor, and chair of school PTA at schools my children attended.

I have 40+ years of experience in the hospitality industry, an industry that relies on customer service of demanding and high standards, and I believe my experiences have given me the skills to be able to support the council in community issues and events.

I am married to Fiona, a life-long Rainfordian, and I am the proud father of 5 children, 3 step children and 11 grandchildren, family is everything to me……as well as golf, food, drink and good neighbours!
I have a keen interest in football, previously played at a high level, scouted for a premiership club and qualified as a referee when I had to stop playing through injury.
I currently work for a charitable trust food education program 3 days a week, visiting schools of all age groups across the North of England, as well as having a Private Chef business which has had me cooking for many celebrities over the years, and honoured to have cooked for and been presented to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
